Akeel Udar
Profile: Akeel has been relatively a new member of the SysMind Team but has shown immense promise and potential to be an integral part of it. He comes with a Master's degree in Computer Science from Drexel University and has worked in the IT field for around 5 years. He has brought the much needed Database related expertise to our knowledge pool.
Akeel is an experienced Sybase Developer and Perl programmer. He has spent the last 5 years in the financial industry and was closely involved in developing applications related to Mortgage Backed Securities, Equity Trading and Settlement. Akeel has worked with clients like The Hartford Group, Nomura Securities International, Inc. and Deutsche Bank. He is currently on an assignment with Freddie Mac, one of the largest mortgage and securities trading firms in the country. He has experience with a variety of technologies including CGI, KornShell, DBI and DBLib among others.
At his current project at Freddie Mac, Akeel is involved in revamping the established stored procedures in the Morning Load Process. The Morning Load is a critical process which loads intra-day data into various tables spread over different servers. It has a total run time of about 6 hours and is responsible for validation and verification of huge amounts of critical information. He loves the challenge of studying large stored procedures and scripts and re-writing them as per a set of new requirements and benchmarks. He is also involved in the migration of the Ontrack system to a JAVA/Perl environment. The Ontrack System is an important part of the Close-The-Books self auditing initiative at Freddie Mac.
Piyush Trivedi
Profile: Piyush comes with over 13 years of IT experience with strong technical background in C++, VC++, Java, Perl, and messaging tools like MQ Series and BEA Tuxedo. His past experience includes big guns like Bank of New York, Software Associates, Merrill Lynch, and GE Investments. Piyush is currently a Tech lead at Medco Health Solutions. Piyush is undoubtedly one of the pillars of the SysMind’s Capital Market division.
Piyush believes his stint at Bank of New York (CLS Bank Project) was the most challenging assignment yet. Bank of New York is the largest custodian in the world with $ 7 trillion in assets. It controls very huge foreign exchange transactions on a daily and continuous basis. It is a founder settlement member of CLS Bank in London.
CLS Bank was conceived of and designed by the private sector to reduce the risks and effects of such a failure by simultaneously settling Instructions arising from cross-currency transactions. The exposures created by a failure of a major institution that participates in the foreign exchange trading markets could affect not just the counterparties of the failed institution, but might also have a systemic effect - spreading to other market participants and the international financial system as a whole.
Piyush worked on a project to integrate forex settlement via CLS Bank with the existing forex trading systems in Bank of New York. It was very challenging work and a very stimulating work environment. Forex settlement of very large amounts over a twenty four hour cycle is demanding work with no facility for delay or failure
Idhayachandran Manivannan
Profile: Idhaya is one of SysMind’s jewels in the Financial Technologies arena. In a short span of 6 years he has assumed responsibility as an Architect in the Forex division of Wachovia Securities. His core expertise is in product development and aspires to come out with a Business Solution Product for Financial domain based on his core technology strength. He has worked in developing a Product in Social Networking ( www.spoke.com ) and also in Oracle 10G Portal Server ( www.oracle.com ).
He is currently working as an Architect in Fixed Income Technology group of Wachovia Securities. His focus is on Global Forex Trading systems responsible for integrating the bank trading systems with Financial ECN (E-commerce Networks) like FXAll,HosportFXI,FXconnect etc and also integrating the service providers like Reuters, Deutche and Bloomberg. His exposure varies from Front Office Trading Systems, Customer Facing Websites, Middle Office Analysis and Back office Payment and Settlement systems. He has developed intelligent systems to monitor the cash positions and Customer Risk analysis. He has enabled the technology group to add value to the business rather than supporting the business.
Idhaya’s expertises were tested when he had to implement FX Derivative products like Forwards and interest rate SWAPs for European Market and needless to say he came with flying colors. Idhaya is backed by solid experience in Global Delivery Model, managing development across shores, Process Methodologies like RUP (Rational Unified Process), XP (Extreme Programming). His technical expertise include J2EE,.NET , and database systems.
